Review: White Christmas Ball 2011

On December 3, on the eve of the first Sunday in Advent, the quinquennial White Christmas Ball took place, again at the magnificent Baur au Lac Hotel. With close to 130 guests, the event was fully booked, which leads us to assume that the concept which was slightly modified the year before has proved itself very well.

As expected, the cooperation with the Baur au Lac Hotel was excellent, and it significantly contributed to the splendor of the event. Thanks to our invigorated partnership we were allowed this year to use the reception hall with the splendid Christmas tree not only during the welcome cocktail, but for the entire duration of the evening as well. The improved spatial concept provided for more space in a more compact setting, which obviously pleased the guests very much. Aside from the dessert buffet and the dance floor, the spacious reception hall also offered pleasant seating accomodation so that the guests had ample opportunity to entertain themselves and to meet with each other.

Shortly after the welcome cocktail, a splendid chamber concert performed by “Flyer Klassik” took place in the Petit Palais. A little later, the gospel choir “Get UP!” surprised the guests with a performance that was at the same time spiritual and cheerful. After the formal banquet, the ball was opened, and the “Miriam Dee Band” contributed their share to the festive ambience. As in the previous year, the raffle around midnight was followed by a “Diamond Champaign Toast” although Beyer Chronometrie AG had celebrated their round 250-year anniversary already in 2010.

The proceeds of around 30’000 Swiss Francs will be directed to three projects: the apprenticeship project “LPlus” and the initiative “Zürcher Familien in Not” (“Zurich Families in Distress”) will again be beneficiaries; in addition to them, a part will go to the youth workshop “Türöffner - Work and Box” (“Door Opener - Work and Box”).

We thank our partners and guests as well as all those involved from the bottom of our hearts for their significant and loyal commitment!

Review: White Christmas Ball 2010

The fourth White Christmas Ball took place on November 2010 – the first time in the well-known Baur au Lac Hotel in Zurich. The event was somewhat smaller regarding the number of guests, but it came with a new appearance and was even more exclusive in terms of the overall offering. We had the opportunity to extend our welcome to 120 guests and to a number of new partners.

The change to the Baur au Lac Hotel was mainly motivated by the considerably simplified logistics that are available within an existing hotel operation; in addition, we were able to integrate a Smokers’ Lounge even under the new strict legal requirements. The cooperation with the hotel was excellent, and the guests felt as before to be in very good hands and to be treated in a familial manner.

The welcome cocktail took place in the splendid reception hall where the Baur au Lac Hotel had arranged a wonderful Christmas tree a few days earlier than usual especially for the White Christmas Ball. Thereafter, the guests were accompanied to take their seats in the “Petit Palais”, where the sumptuous banquet started right after the chamber concerto. The performers of “Timetravelling” made a humorous but nevertheless interesting historical review of Zurich’s cultural life, since a long time often took place at the Baur au Lac. Later on, the ball was opened and dancing was accompanied as usual by the lively tunes of the “Miriam Dee Band”. Finally, the raffle as well as the “Diamond Champaign Toast” on the occasion of the 250-year anniversary of Beyer Chronometrie AG took place shortly after midnight.

The proceeds of CHF 30'000 were again dedicated in part to the apprenticeship project “LPLUS”, but also to the initiative “Zürcher Familien in Not” (Zurich families in distress”) which supports and coaches families from the greater Zurich area that find themselves in severe distress.

Our best thanks go with deep gratitude to all our partners and guests for their contributions as well as to all those involved in making the event a remarkable success!

Review: White Christmas Ball 2009

On the 28th November 2009, some 160 invitees attended the third White Christmas Ball which took place in the Zunfthaus zur Meisen as in the years before. Following the reception with drinks and snacks in the Porcelain Museum, the string quartet À la Q’Art gave an exquisite chamber music performance. After the festive dinner in the grand ballroom, the charity commitment of the White Christmas Ball was duly presented: in the year 2009/2010, the benefits will go to the project LPlus which originated from an initiative by the Entrepreneurs’ Association for Competitiveness (“Unternehmergruppe Wettbewerbsfähigkeit”) and aims to motivate Swiss companies to establish additional apprenticeship opportunities. Subsequent to the charity auction, the dance floor was opened.

After that, the guests could listen to the swinging tunes of the Miriam Dee Band, enjoy additional culinary delights from the dessert buffet presented in the Porcelain Museum or engage in stimulating conversations accompanied by exquisite drinks and fine cigars in the lounge. Around midnight, the winners of the attractive tombola prizes were determined.

At this point the organization committee wants to express its deep gratitude to all partners and participants for their valued contributions and their generous support!

Review: White Christmas Ball 2008

On November  29, 2008 around 140 guests attended the second White Christmas Ball at the Zunfthaus zur Meisen in Zurich. After the reception with chamber music, the guests convened at the grand ballroom for a festive dinner. Thereafter, the ball was officially opened, and after a short dance session, accompanied by the Miriam Dee Band, the charity auction which was led by Cyril Koller, managing director of the leading Swiss auction house, raised the gratifying sum of CHF 21,500. After that, the guests relaxed and enjoyed the evening dancing, smoking cigars, tasting exotic drinks and having personal conversations. Just around midnight the winners of the attractive raffle prices were announced, which contributed another CHF 7,300 to the good cause.

At this point we thank all the people involved in making this evening such a great success. We are delighted to hold the third White Christmas Ball on November 28, 2009, again at the Zunfthaus zur Meisen. Thank you very much!

Review: White Christmas Ball 2007

On December 15, 2007 approximately 100 guests attended the first White Christmas Ball at the «Zunfthaus zur Meisen» in Zurich. After the reception – which was accompanied by bagpipe music – the guests were invited to an exquisite Christmas chamber music concert performed by Gunhard Matthes and his partner. The aperitif at the stylish Porcelain Museum was followed by a formal dinner at the Ball Room. After the official opening of the Ball the guests were able to mingle and enjoy the music, the cigars and exotic drinks. Another highlight was the midnight auction following the presentation of «Projeto Crescer», the project that was to be supported by this event. Several items were auctioned off and at the end we were able to collect a total of CHF 20’000 for «Projeto Crescer». We would to again express our sincere gratitude to all those who contributed to this fantastic result. Due to the positive feedback of the attendees we decided to organize a next White Christmas Ball 2008 that will take place in November 2008. While we shall build in our positive experience of the first two events we are also committed to leaving room for new ideas. We are very happy that the renowned watch manufacturer Hublot (Geneva) has decided to be one of our new main sponsors as of 2008. Other new sponsors have also committed significant funds which we are grateful for.
