The «White Christmas Society» derives its origin from a group of executive education students at Harvard Business School and was founded – at that time under a different name – in Cambridge, Massachusetts. The Society’s initial goal was to maintain and leverage networks between its members around the world. As all founding members had the privilege to receive a very good education the ambition arose over time to provide a similar opportunity to less privileged children and teenagers. In addition to private events a variety of official events were initiated featuring representatives from politics, business and culture. Beside the social gathering these events soon provided the unique opportunity to raise funds for Charity projects. A key milestone was the «White Christmas Dinner 2006» which served as a platform to exchange ideas among executives from a wide range of age groups and professional fields. The guests were Swiss nationals and international representatives who – during a formal dinner accompanied by chamber music – were inspired to discuss and develop innovative ideas, form new friendships and even initiate promising projects. Given the positive feedback, the «White Christmas Ball 2007» was organized in association with external partners and took place on December 15, 2007. All proceeds were donated to a specific Charity project. This format has proven effective and will be subject to continuous development. Long-term partnerships as well as the commitment of organizers, partners and guests to collectively contribute to a charitable purpose always remain at the forefront. In addition to the «White Christmas Ball» in Zurich further events in Switzerland and abroad are being planned.
Project selection criteria: «We support children and growing talents» - this is our philosophy and motivation to support projects. Our selection criteria are as follows: clearly defined use of funds, ensure that funds go directly to the project and do not get diluted in overhead structures; «help to help themselves» approach with sustainable impact. |
